How our cyber response chatbot works

The chatbot interface can be added to web page or web application - it can also be implemented as voice, SMS or social media chat. Once the user starts interacting with the chatbot it takes the user through a series of customisable welcome messages and then invites the user to describe the issue they have experienced.

Using Natural Language Processing the description is then broken down into its constituent parts and then run past our knowledge graph. The knowledge graph is our chatbots unique ‘brain’. The ‘brain’ is made up of a complex map of the keywords, symptoms, exploitation methods, recovery options, threat markers, devices and online accounts that are associated with each type of threat. Using a proprietary scoring system the description is run past the knowledge graph and the chatbot is able to predict the most likely issue the user is experiencing - and any other secondary threats that may be involved.

These issues are then confirmed with the user - using plain English descriptions - before first response advice is given. This advice can be given in the chatbot itself or it can link to online content such as a web page. Should the user need more help - or if the chatbot can’t effectively diagnose the issue - then the chatbot can create a case and hand it over to a helpline service.
